The Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is within a 90-minute
drive of Calgary's International Airport and just five minutes from
the amenities of the Town of Canmore. The Canmore Nordic Centre
provides exceptional winter cross-country skiing and summer
mountain biking experiences.
Originally designed and developed for the 1988 Winter Olympic
Games and, recently re-developed for the 2005 World Cup and future
international events, the Canmore Nordic Centre offers you
exhilarating cross-country outings on over 60 kilometres of
world-class cross-country and biathlon trail systems. The trails
are designed to meet international nordic competitive standards,
and the trail system offers you a wide variety of cross-country ski
outings. You can ski along a quiet forest trail or challenge
yourself on one of the many cross-country or biathlon trails used
by world-class competitors. Trails are groomed and trackset to
accommodate both classic and skating techniques on the same trail.
A 6.5 kilometre track is illuminated for night skiing.
A Day Lodge offers a relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by the large
stone fireplace, comfortable seating, and picture window views of
soaring Mount Rundle. Other services include a cafeteria, meeting
rooms, maps and information, day lockers, showers, washrooms,
equipment rentals, and lessons.
The trails offer wonderful hiking and mountain biking
opportunities during the warmer months of the year.
