This cache was made by the high school kids in the second annual Camp TURF (Tomorrow's Undergraduates Realizing the Future), a two-week residential summer academy hosted by the OSU Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture and funded by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. The students spent two weeks experiencing college living while exploring career areas in horticulture and landscape architecture; they even filmed a segment for Oklahoma Gardening (TV show), which will be available for viewing on YouTube after it airs on OETA at the end of July 2011. The cache is packed with a Camp TURF 2011 t-shirt, a new 4H water bottle (all the students got one), a new OSU lanyard (the students used them for their room keys), and a trophy. It is the mustache cache because while walking across OSU we ran across a stuffed mustache lying in a parking lot---how random is that? It made us laugh, so we incorporated it into the cache. It is attached to the front of the log book. We hid this at the OSU botanic garden near the new entrance, since we spent quite a bit of time out there over the past two weeks. Enjoy, and if you know any students who will be going into the 9th or 10th grade in the fall of 2012, make sure to tell them about Camp TURF 2012! Applications will be available around March; the state regents have a website that lists all of the academies around the state---all are free to Oklahoma students!
