Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Shinn Historical Park and Arboretum in the city of Fremont. The cache is a small waterproof plastic box approximately 2.7 x 4.3 x 1.3 inches in size that has been spray painted green. The trees may throw off your GPS a bit but the cache should be in an obvious spot. There is no need to trample any vegetation.

James and Lucy Shinn founded a nursery business here in 1856 and built the house in 1876. The house was deeded to the City of Fremont in 1962 and restoration was complete in 1975. The park can be rented for private functions and if a cacher arrives while one is happening the cache is probably not accessible. The park is open from dawn to 30 minutes before dusk, everyday and tours of the house are held on the first Wednesday and third Sunday of each month. Dogs are permitted in the park.

05/09/2006: Cache replaced. The replacement cache is a Decon container.
