Grillin' Event
Details:
This was such
a great venue back in 2009 and there are so many trails to explore
in the area, we decided to come back to the Buena Vista area again
this year. Meet up at the posted coordinates along Mushroom
Gulch road at 5:00 pm for a fun evening of grillin', hanging out
with fellow geocachers and telling 4x4 tales. Make sure you
bring chairs and a beverage of your choice. Grilled meat and
fixins will be provided. If you can bring a cold side dish of
your choice it will be appreciated. All geocachers are
encouraged to attend the grillin' event, regardless of
participation in the daytime 4x4 run.
Note: There
will be porta potties at the event site. Also, this event is
not officially a camping event but free camping is available on a
first come first served basis at the event location and at several
other spots along Mushroom Gulch Road.
If you plan
to go on the daytime 4x4 run, that's great, but if not, you should
still plan to spend the day in the mountains prior to the grillin'
event. There will be plenty to do for the day,
including:
» Go on the optional hike to Hartenstein
Lake (see optional hike information below).
»
Explore the area around Buena
Vista and Salida.
» Enjoy one of the many activities available in the Buena
Vista area (Rafting, Kayaking, Mountain Biking,
Hiking)
» Hang out at the event area (Chat with others who will be
there for the day, sit back and enjoy the mountain
air, have a picnic, read
a book, play horseshoes).
» Make
a caching run on your way to Buena Vista (All of the routes into
Buena Vista have countless
fun mountain cache hides
along them).
» Spend
the day geocaching around Buena Vista.
» Plan
your own adventure for the day.
Grillin'
Dinner:
Dinner will
be served at approximately 6:00 pm.
Menu
» Burgers
» Bratwurst

the fixins to top your Burgers, Brats and Dogs

4x4 Bear
Award - To be handed off
annually.
The bear was carved and graciously donated by jmike for the
2007 4x4 event raffle. Sting25 won it
at that event after having a little mishap on the trail during that
day. Sting25 agreed to give the bear up to the next
victim lucky person and the plan was hatched to
make the bear an annual award.
Digital58 won the bear at the
2010 4x4 event. Who will win it this year and what
mishap accomplishment will it be awarded
for?

Best Grillin'
Attire Award (You decide what that is)
Prize: Set of Anti-Shock Hiking Poles.
