This easy micro is placed near an interesting Veteran
Memorial. The memorial is a stone block which has been carved on.
There are four panels on the block with each major military service
represented. Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marines. These carvings
evoke hisotoric people, weapons, and battles shown above
gravestones symbolizing lives given for our country. Take the time
to read the plaques here.
Shown is the Navy panel, since I’m a Navy vet. Some of the carvings
depict an aircraft carrier, a submarine, a blimp, and a fighter
jet. The other panels are equally interesting.
The park has a playground and picnic tables nearby so this is a
very family friendly cache.
I’ve been waiting to submit it for approval for 4 months now, I
actually placed it physically back in April. When I submitted it to
gc.com, I discovered that I was in the same park as another cache,
which was only 350 feet away from mine. D’oh! Didn’t realize that I was in Guise Park, which
already had the cache “Guise’s Disguise”. The park looks
totally different on the north side, I thought that I had
found some virgin cache territory! So, I just let the cache sit there
until one day I would swing by and pick it up. Wasn’t a high
priority, so it sat there all this time. Then a few days ago,
at the monthly coffee event, a cacher told me that Guise
Disguise had been archived. So after checking on this 4 month
old cache yesterday and found it to be dry, I finally get to
submit it for approval.
Good luck, bring a pen, and Cache on! This is the hiking
viking’s 36th cache in the greater Akron area.
