This cache is close to Fort Abu Jifan . See Ionis Thomson's book treks from Riyadh for directions.
This fort guarded the original main track from Riyadh and Al Kharj to the eastern region. The cutting was the first real bit of road construction in Saudi Arabia and I have a picture of an old 2 wheel drive ford going up it - not any more! Try to get this one Steve
The cache is not difficult to find once you have got there and is within 500 metres of fort Abu Jifan.
The difficulty is getting there!!!!
The old track up the escarpment, described in "desert treks from Riyadh" is now impassable to 4 wheel drive vehicles and the new tracks that have emerged to the North are getting worse every time they are driven up.
All of these tracks up the escarpment are now dangerous and we do not advise you using any of them.
If you want to approach from the west side of the escarpment then follow the power cables up to the big overhang, leave the cars there and then walk up using one of the obvious camel trails.
If you want to approach by 4 wheel drive then come in from the East via the tramac road from Khurais.
This geocache is a long way from the road and difficult to get to - you have been warned
