Geocache Description:

This cache is an easy to reach cache and even a nice break if you are driving through this way. Just off the highway.

This cache's theme is jewelry. Jewel of the Coast. The cache is a small jewelry box sealed in a plastic lock-top tub. The trade items are costume/low cost jewelry. Please plan on trading jewelry items.

When we first got into geaocaching and learned about virtual caches, this spot came to mind. But learning that VCs are sometimes difficult to get approved, I did a bit of walking around and found a good spot for a traditional cache. It is east of a large rock that the kids will find fun to climb on. Heck, unless you are too tired or not too supple, you may find it fun to climb on also.

It is located in the Santa Lucia mountains between Paso Robles and Cambria. On a clear day you will have a lovely vista that includes ocean views of the coast near Cambria, south to Cayucos and Morro Bay, Montaña de Oro, and good views of Morro Rock and Hollister Peak. These last two geological items are part of the Nine Sisters Peaks.

The Nine Sisters of San Luis Obispo County, also known as the Morros, are a unique set of landmarks between the city of Morro Bay and the City of San Luis Obispo. These ancient volcanic mountains are very scenic and form a divider between the Los Osos Valley and Chorro Valley. They represent the solidified conduits "necks" of ancient volcanoes that erupted approximately 22 to 26 million years ago. The volcanic cones have long ago eroded away and we see only the rock that crystallized in the volcanic neck.

There are other good vista points east of this cache that also offer beautiful vistas of this fabulous area.

Items placed in cache. Miscellaneous pins, earings, jewlery, bracelets.
