Geocache Description:

Where one of Martinez' older landmarks intersects with one of its newest.

When I first moved to Martinez, nearly 20 years ago now - the nearby establishment looked, and operated, JUST as it does today - and probably did for many years before my arrival.

Recently, a family of beavers has set up shop nearby in the Alhambra Creek, and have constructed quite a dam. There's been a small amount of media coverage, with everyone talking about how cute the beavers are, and they're drawing quite a crowd. Daphne and I were having dinner at the aforementioned establishment, and noted people taking flash photographs in the twilight out the window.

Downtown Martinez has been notorious for flooding during the winter, and in recent years significant effort and money has been invested in creating a robust channel for the Alhambra Creek, in order to contain its rain-swelled flow. It is exactly this irony that surprises me: Cute as the are, you'll see this article mentions that the creek has gone from being a trickle, to now over 10 feet deep. I wonder what happens when the winter rains come? All I've got to say is, it's a good thing the city has deployed all those Sandbag Stations.

So, bring the kids, bring a camera: come around dawn or dusk for you best bet on a sighting. When Daphne and I had dinner here the other night, we saw the juvenile out for an evening swim and frolic - too cute!

This camo'd large RX bottle shouldn't be too hard to find, but will likely require stealth at most times of the day.
