We won an Ammo box at the Reno Gecko gang's Red Jeep TB lunch at Northstar in Truckee, and wanted to place it nearby.
Many activities take place in this area, one is Hot Air Ballooning, which has been a family activity of ours since 1985. We have wanted to combine hot air ballooning and geocaching for a couple years. This morning, we inflated our balloon "Charlie Skywalker" at the edge of Prosser Lake, with the ammo box ready to place in the spot where we landed. It is now hidden near that location and ready to be found. Although we flew to this spot, you can access it with a 2 wheel drive most of the year. There is a paved road that will get you within a short distance of the cache site. From there a dirt road will get you to within 80 feet. In the winter, you may need a snowmobile or snowshoes to get to the cache from the road. We hope you enjoy the hunt in one of our favorite local playgrounds. There are some Hot Air Balloon trading cards and other theme items along with kids stuff as part of the initial cache swag.
