Geocache Description:

Former Confederate hospital and church, now a regional museum, along the 1805 Federal Road.

UPDATED 7-21-2012 Moved to a new location, uphill from the church.

This is another in our Federal Road series, along the course of the first overland route established through northern Georgia. It originally ran from Nashville TN to Athens, Georgia.

The nearby stone building has served many purposes in the last century, most recently a church and now a regional museum. (Open only Thursday-Sunday, but the cache is well outside the building and can be retrieved almost any daylight-time...)

The actual plaque for the Federal Road is across the highway, but there is no parking or good place for the cache there. Park at the church/museum or drive up to the unmarked cemetary. The cache is between the church and the cemetary.

Original contents include coins, logbook (please BYOP!) and a folded pop-up towel for the FTF! Enjoy!
