Geocache Description:

The cache is located on Thursday Island which is off the North tip of Qld. The trek is along a road up a hill. Very easy.

Sure you could drive all the way up the hill, but the walk is a good 'un. Then again, I am here in the very windy winter where the temperature is absolutely wonderful; the locals tell me that the summer can be hell. Slip slop slap, bring water and all that.

The bright yellow container is hidden among the rocks that sit a couple meters off the road. The Road starts at an intersection at the bottom of the hill then runs along side the school before winding its way up to the top.

After you (hopefully) find the cache and have a look around at the views, you should note the dishes on the hill to the West. Right next to those dishes is a military fort that you can wander about. The fort was built back in the 1880s when we were scared of the Russians invading *shrug*. There are no trees about the hill, so the views are great.

OK, a little about Thursday Island then. Thursday Island is part of the Torres Strait Islands which are just off the tip of Cape York ~ the most northern part of mainland Australia. Awesome fishing, wonderful winter weather, very friendly locals, good places to dine. Thursday Island is very small, you can walk around it in a little over an hour (took me two, but I was photo graphing). And then there are the rest of the Islands to tour.
