Geocache Description:

This will hopefully be the last of the Mullan Trail cache series.

The whole idea behind this cache is to first visit several of the other Mullan Trail caches, then come to this one to see what the trail looks like today. First, stop by one or all of these caches to get an impression of where the trail went. To be completely accurate of course, you need to start in Montana, and finish in Walla Walla, but we won't force you. Kavuday's "Mullan Tree" cache, in Idaho: GC5678 Trail Marker at N47.42.698 W116.56.871, in Post Falls Turtletrax's "Plante's Ferry" cache, in Wa: GC8761 Trail Marker at N47.39.424 W117.17.693, in Spokane Fuzzybear's "Another Monument" cache, in Wa: GCCFF5 Greenthumb's "Capt John Rides Again" in Wa: GCD4B4 Turtletrax's "Mullan Trail Crossing" in Wa: GCABD5 Gjemsel's "Mullan Micro" in Cheney, Wa: GCEC2A and finally, EdgyDrifter's "Mullen Road" in Wa: GC10B1 So start in downtown Paxton, Washington. Paxton is located about 15 miles south of Sprague. You will probably remember that it is about a half mile East of where the Portland and Seattle railroad crossed over the St Paul and Pacific railroad. I don't recommend paying for the tour, you can probably find your way around town by yourself. There are a couple of ways to get to Paxton. If coming from the south, make sure you bring a 4 wheel drive. I recommend coming in from the north. Due to parking restrictions, I don't recommend parking downtown. The best place to park is probably at N47.03.658 W118.00.861. Don't block the gate. Go south on the railway right of way to the trestle, then east to Paxton. Services in Paxton are limited in the off season. The cache is located in the immediate vicinity of railbeds and modern roads, but you should be able to see the old roadbed just to the south of the cache. Since shade is limited during summer months, keep an eye out for creepy crawly things enjoying the shade in the immediate vicinity of the cache container.
