Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Burnt Mill Lake in Vineland, New Jersey. There is parking available on Route 47, Delsea Drive. It is only a short hike to the cache on a hard packed trail. There is about 25' of mild bushwhacking to the cache.

One day while out for a walk at a nearby lake our youngest yelled, “Look, there’s a bridge over there in the woods!” We had been on this trail many times over the years but had never spotted the old bridge. Sure enough, we headed over and there it was! We were amazed to find a completely intact bridge built in 1897. This brick and stone structure has been hiding in the woods unused for more than a half a century. The Hudson Branch stream runs under it after clearing the nearby spillway.

The cache container is a camouflaged bison. As you hike beside the lake you may hear lots of dog barking. Don’t worry about them; they are safe behind a tall fence at the nearby kennel. We hope you enjoy this short journey into the past.

Please, no spoiler photographs or logs (even if encrypted). It detracts from our intentions for the cache. However, please do feel free to post photos of yourself, your family, the lake, spillway, and of course, The 1897 Bridge!
