Geocache Description:

This is thee gathering before CARW2015. "Oh Canada" is the theme for this year's CARW event. Come as you are between 7-9pm. Everyone looks after their own tab.

What is CARW2015? CARW= Cache And Release Winter. It is a winter gathering of geocachers from all over Edmonton, the province of Alberta, some geocachers travel from other parts of Canada and the world to attend our local Geocaching weekend long shindig.

What do you do on this weekend? Before the weekend; On Thursday March 5th in the evening the caches are published. You create a pocket querry from the bookmark list of geocaches that Janski (SigShark) makes. Attend the kick off event Friday March 6, 2015. Then from 9am Saturday March 7 to 3pm Sunday March 8, 2014 you find as many CARW2015 caches as you can! There's a Saturday evening Caching conversation over Coffee event (GC5KPDC), a Sunday Breakfast event sadly not happening this year, and a Sunday afternoon wrap up event (GC5HVNT).

CARW2014 had over 100 caches, 4 of these were event caches. CARW is an amazing event where you get to act like big kids, find the caches, have fun, meet other cachers and share in the joy of geocaching! The wrap up on Sunday afternoon is lots of fun too! As that's where the prizes are handed out for the geocache finders and the cache owners who hid them.

Can anyone hide a cache? Yes, but an emphasis is put on Quality caches, not quantity. There are some rules as to what cache size, location, and so on. For details about hiding caches, see the wrap up event page (GC5HVNT). Any questions contact geocacher; Janski or Sigshark

This event is for....

  • New cachers to meet some experienced cachers
  • New cachers to hopefully absorb some knowledge from the experienced cachers
  • Experienced cachers to share with new cachers, maybe scare them with horror stories too!
  • Find a caching buddy for the weekend if your spouse/kids/geodog have disowned you
  • Meet up with your geocaching team, to plan your route
  • Work on CARW puzzles, & compare answers, hopefully right answers
  • Drop off, pick up, and discover Travel Bugs
  • Sign log book (or not), count it as a find!
  • Geocaching families who want to meet up with other geocaching families
  • Maybe you've never attended a geocaching event but want to see what one is all about
  • This location has a play place!!! Send the kids to go play while parents are busy talking geocaching.
  • Hang out, drink excessive amounts of caffeine, eat some food, share stories and have fun before the serious business starts the next day.

Meet at co-ords between 7pm to 9pm. Everyone looks after their own tab. Prizes will be drawn at random throughout the event, you must be present to claim your prize. This year KiwiBirdMan has done a score sheet online and will be facilitating that. There are no paper score sheets to return at the CARW wrap up event on Sunday March 8 at 230pm.
