Geocache Description:

This is an adventure series of caches located at places where I took a break from my bike ride.

This is a series of caches that were placed while bike camping across the state of Maine in late September 2008 during harvest break. I started at the northern part of the state while ending 552 miles later at a meeting in southern Maine. I wanted to ride on roads that I had never traveled before so that I could experience rural Maine at it finest during the fall when the leaves were changing. I was alone, loaded with a tent, sleeping bag, food for ten days, and clothes for rain, snow, sleet or hail. At the end of my adventure I managed to arrange a ride home with the other half of the Northwoods duo. While I am not the greatest fan of micros it was all that I could manage to find room for in my gear bags. There are nine caches in this series. If you look at them in order you will get an idea of the route that I took on my adventure. As you will notice it wasn’t the straightest route.

I was riding along and it was early in the morning as the fog was still hanging over the valley. When suddenly up out of the ditch came a small turkey. It looked more like a chicken then a turkey due to its size. By the time I had the bike stopped, a dozen more had followed the first one into the road. No big ones so it must have been several family groups joined after the big ones had been hit by cars. They were all the same size and running around in every direction. By the time all was said and done, there were twenty-six of the little guys wandering around the road. By the time I was able to dig my camera out they had all headed into the woods in various directions.

I have traveled by this location many times before but never realized what was here and the good time I would have exploring the location. The old cedar trees that make up the location fence add just the right touch. Take some time to explore the area and I hope you will find it interesting also.

Cache has canged alittle. no longer a micro and there is a new log and a pen. Found this cache with my oldest and youngest sons. The bad news was that the log was ruined by the elements. Got a new container and added small items of trade. Please leave somethings if u take. Please make sure to return the cache just as you found it so that others will have the same challenge.

Please take a moment to read my log of the find. Very intrasting happenings during this cache. Look up mad_hatter@uscellular
