Goni Trail
Is this a NEW walking trail on Goni? Or have I just now seen it?
Nows your chance to check it out. Bring the dogs, but keep them off
the road!
On 8/29/09, Scheibwife provided the following information:
... Two of the friends, Lynn and Tom, live in the neighborhood
and were on the committee who have worked to create the trail and
have the area preserved as neighborhood-requested open space,
instead of the city-suggested ball parks with bright lights. The
final slurry seal on the trail was completed in July 2009 after two
years of trail development. The trail is a hard-packed soil-cement
one mile loop for walkers, joggers, dog-walkers and bikers, with
horses invited to use the areas off the trail. There are 7 trail
maps and interpretive signs, as well as 7 benches along its length.
On a clear evening like we enjoyed, the downsloping views into
Carson City and the uplooking views into the Carson Range are
wonderful.
The Goni Trail was a parcel donated by William and Louise Goni
to the Goni Canyon Preservation League for the price of $1. There
was a $50,000 grant given to the GCPL for trail development by the
Nevada Trails, and the Cinderlite Trucking Company donated time and
materials for actual creation of the trail.
Thanks for the information! CG

[view this log] | August 29 by scheibwife (1000 found) Found by intention with thescheib, and by introduction to the Goni Trail by three of its neighbors, and by way of introducing geocaching to a grand total of 7 friends. Took nothing, signed log, shared the experience with friends, and replaced as we found.
