This cache is only 1/4 mile from the Valley Falls cache. However,it is on the opposite side of the river and takes over an hour to reach by car and foot if you want to do them both.
Only persons with high clearance vehicles will want to attempt to drive near this cache. Be especially careful after snowfalls or heavy rains. Even then, it will require a hike of over a mile to reach the site.
Begin your journey on US Route 50. At Pruntytown, you will head north on Valley Falls Road (CR 18). You will come to a fork, and there you will bear left (Linn Chapel Road). Right before you come to this little church, there is a spring coming from a pipe out of the hill. It requires a short hike up a trail. At the church, bear right, and follow this gravel road up over the hill and then begin the descent into the gorge. This road is not for those with a fear of heights. Follow the road down around a sharp turn and into the gorge. At the bottom, you will be greeted with the best view of the Valley Falls. Find a place to park and then head north on the old logging road. The road is nothing more than mud nearly year round, so be prepared.
After a mile you will find yourself nearing the cache. On the left bank, look for the lone Hemlock tree in the midst of all the deciduous trees. It is approx 50 yards up the hill. When you reach that Hemlock, the cache is then only about 30 ft to the west inside a fallen hollow tree. It is
in a clear plastic container with a blue lid. Enjoy this beautiful area. There are many great places for riverside picnics.
