Geocache Description:

A companion piece to the newly placed Proud To Be Canadian (again) cache, which is on Maple Mountain proper. This one is located in the foothills, between Maple Mountain and Mt. Richards, north of Duncan.

Well, kids, this isn't a walk-to cache like my other ones. You will have to work a little bit for this one. Most of the walk is easy, but there is some UP towards the cache site, and you will have to climb rocks to get there-trust me it's the easiest way there! This cache would not be family friendly for those with little ones. The last climb is tough-please take it easy on the mossy rocks-especially if it's been wet!

The road in is off Osborne Bay Road, on the way to Crofton. The gate is visible, you can't miss it. After driving in a short while, there will be a side road that goes up to the left. Take it. Driving up some points may take a little caution, as there are a couple of pits in the road. Once you park (there are a couple of wide places in the road to do this), walk back about 40 metres, and you should see a trail going up. Take it. Your GPS should tell you where to go from there. The coverage isn't too bad in here. I was able to get 6-10 metres accuracy. Yes, you do have to climb up there, but the view will be worth it. At the cache site, I was able to get 5-6 metres accuracy, so the co-ords should be good. This is a camouflage-coloured Rubbermaid-type container. I will be transferring the contents to my Proud To Be Canadian (again) cache, and putting new stuff here, but leaving the same log book. I'll keep you posted!

At the time of hiding, the cache included:

Maple leaf log book
Red/white pen,and pencils(please leave these in the cache)
Canada stickers
Canada keychain
Red container with 2AA batteries
White container with 2AA batteries
Small flashlight (no batteries)
Package of bungee cords
Yellow cache cow #12
Jack the Riveter Travel Bug
I forgot the Geocaching notice in the car, so if the next cacher would be so kind as to place one in, that would be cool! Good luck, and have fun!
