With the temp in Des Moines reaching 60F for the first time this year and the remnants of snow melting fast, I decided to hit the bike trail.
This cache is located at the location where a small woodland creature tried to kill me.
So there I was, biking along toward Team Gamsci’s latest cache when I saw a small animal in the distance. “Just another squirrel,” I thought. I paid no attention to it and expected it to run away when I got near, like all the other squirrels had done.
I kept biking, and it was scampering down the trail toward me. Then it decided to run right at me. That’s when I realized this was not a squirrel, or a chipmunk, opossum, raccoon, or any other small animal I knew.
Just as I thought I was about to hit the little kamikaze furball he decided to save himself and turned-tail. But he ran away directly down the path in front of me!
I slammed on my breaks and thought “this is it, I’m going to go head over handlebars!”
At the last moment the cute little terrorist darted to the side and I was spared.
So here’s to you, militant mink. May we never meet again.
