The Folded Rocks you will see here in Broto are almost zig-zag
shaped. You can see them very easily if you walk down to the
waterfall.

Any person who can walk a few hundred metres and can manage some
stairs is able to go and see them. There is a nearby carpark which
is waypointed below, and there is path is well sign posted. The
coordinates for this cache are for the public information board
along the public footpath to the waterfall. You can retrieve all
the necessary information you need to log this cache from this
signboard. Optionally you can take a photograph too with your GPS
at the waterfall.

unos cientos de metros y de subir y bajar unos pocos escalones
puede ver las rocas. Hay un aparcamiento cercano cuyo
“waypoint” está indicado más abajo y el camino está
bien indicado. Las coordenadas de este cache son las del cartel de
información al público en el camino hacia la cascada. Toda la
información necesaria para registrar este cache está en este

The Sorrosal Waterfall / La Cascada Sorrosal
The rocks you will see here in Broto were formed under the sea.
Huge underwater canyons were subject to dramatic flows of water
surging through them when repeated flooding occurred. This flood
water was loaded with sediments. Every time a fresh flood occurred
an extra layer of sediment was deposited in the underwater canyon.
This caused the tabular layers of rock you can see today by the
waterfall. It is these layers which make the folding of the rock so
apparent.
Las rocas que verás en Broto se
formaron bajo el mar. Enormes cañones submarinos estuvieron
expuestos a dramáticos flujos de agua cargada de sedimentos cuando
se producían inundaciones de la tierra firme. Cada inundación
provocó una nueva capa de sedimentos en el cañón submarino. Este
fenómeno causó las capas de roca que se ven al lado de la cascada y
resaltan claramente el pliegue que se produjo
posteriormente.
Subsequently though they were lifted up and folded by two very
strong opposing forces. These two forces were the result of the
Eurasian and Afro-Iberian tectonic plates colliding together. This
all started around 80 million years ago. The net result was the
formation of the Pyrenees Mountains where you are standing
now.
