The posted co-ordinates are for the Carron Loop trailhead. The answers needed to complete this multi-cache can be found on signs and waymark stones at the additional waypoints provided along the Carron Loop waymarked walk.
The Carron Loop is in the Burren region of County Clare. This looped walk is part of the network of National Looped Walks. The route is waymarked using the purple National Looped Walk directional arrows. These waymarkers are clearly displayed on standing stones and are easy to follow.
The loop is approximately 10km, with an elevation change of 100m. It should take approximately 4 hours plus any time you want to spend for lunch or taking photos on the route. The overall difficulty/terrain rating for the looped walk is 3.5/3.5 based on having to complete the entire looped walk and find all answers. The terrain is a mixture of minor roads, animal tracks and green lanes. Please follow all instructions on waymark stones along the route and watch for livestock. Never assume that moss has rock beneath it - there are many grikes in the limestone. The usual gear applies - sturdy walking boots, waterproofs, rucksack, fluid, snacks, mobile phone.
Please respect the Burren Code, see image in gallery. There is no need to cross dry stone walls - all crossings are via the waymarked stiles.
The trail parking is at Cassidy’s Pub in Carron village. The "Carron Loop - Bonus" cache should be combined with the "Carron Loop" cache series as both the cache series and the answers for the bonus are on the same looped walk. From the parking follow your GPSr and the purple waymark arrows through the village to the "Templecronin Church Sign" waypoint/Carron Loop - Trailhead waypoint. There are details in the individual "Carron Loop" cache descriptions to remind you to pick up the answers to the "Carron Loop - Bonus" cache questions as you pass the additional waypoints along the route.
The answer to each question is a number which is assigned a letter. After returning to your car at the end of the looped walk you can use the following to calculate the final cache co-ordinates:
