Every April I wake to the whir of phantom bike chains and find
my legs have bunched up the sheets from an involunatry kicking
motion. It can only mean one thing: It's
Little 5 season again.
Indiana University's Little 500 is 200 laps, 50 miles, 33 teams,
and one flesh-eating cinder track. That's the gist of the greatest
spectacle in collegiate bike racing, and here's a little video to
the drive the point home:
RACE ON!
By the way, I've seen exactly one movie about bicycling but I
suspect it's the best one.
Breaking Away is
goofy, low budget, warm hearted, and full of cycling sounds. It
even teaches you a little Italian.
This bike ride between Crystal Lake and Dundee is a family
favorite. The round trip is approximately 20 miles. To determine
the final coordinates, just match the letters of the waypoint
coordinates to the numbers of the descriptions.
