Geocache Description:

This the sixth of our hides brings us to a new area to explore. We have now moved out of the Rhondda Valley to the Hirwaun area, home to the only deep pit left in South Wales.

Getting to this cache offers spectacular views in a solitary peaceful location disturbed only by the sounds of sheep and birds. Suitable for all the family, to enjoy this walk at its best park at N51-44-682 W003-34-516 and follow the footpath past the gliding club. From car to cache is about one mile.

The title of the cache owed itself to the gliding club that lies not too far from the cache that is operational on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday each week. If you fancy a flight, for a price you can. If you can afford it what a view you will have.

Great views of the Brecon Beacons can be seen on this walk, but as the area is exposed it is a good idea to make sure you have the appropriate clothing, especially in cold weather. Please close all gates behind you and keep dogs on the lead, as livestock roam.

The cache is a click lock container with waterproof seals that holds a logbook and small items of trade. Please replace the cache back to its hiding place carefully.

We have many caches in the area nowadays. To view our other caches please look at 'derrylynne's caches in the valley's' - that can be found on the right hand side of this listing.
