Come to Maria's TacoXpress, one of those
funky, real South Austin spots, to celebrate everything cool
about South Austin on
February 10 at
5pm.
We'll gather out in the back yard and stuff
ourselves with tacos and hand out awards for caches placed in the
"What (insert your caching name here) Loves About South Austin
series.
Here are the details:
I've lived in South Austin over 20 years and I just love it's
laid back funkiness. What makes South Austin special to you? Is it
Barton Springs? Shopping on South Congress? The speed trap on South
First that is ALWAYS there, but gets you every time anyway?????
I was going to place a series of caches so you could all get the
feel of the "true" South Austin, but then I thought it might be
more fun for ME if YOU placed the caches. Then I'd get turned on to
some spots I might not have known about, and South Austin will get
a bunch of new caches that I can find! PERFECT!!!!
So your assignment, gang, is to hide a cache someplace that
defines South Austin for you. What would you see in South Austin
that would NEVER fly in North Austin? Why do people pay $200K for a
shack in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood? Think yard art, landmarks,
scenic views, yummy food, funky shopping, WHATEVER! At Maria's Taco
Express on Saturday, February 10, come to the celebration event.
Anyone who has placed a cache with the name "What (insert your
caching name here) Loves about South Austin" will get a fabulous
prize. There will also be an award for the funkiest spot you might
never have found without geocaching, and a prize for the cache
container that best represents South Austin.
Rules:
Hide your cache before January 31. Be sure to use the
following naming convention when naming your cache. "What (insert
your caching name here) Loves About South Austin"
First come, first served at cool spots, so place your cache and
get it approved so people can see that you got there first. Do not
place your cache in any way that would cause harm to what you're
trying to show us. For example, don't place a fake rock cache in a
beautiful stacked rock garden. We'll destroy it. Feel free to place
more than one cache.
North Austinites are welcome to hide caches in South Austin.
