How Geocaching Works
The cache is in open woods, just a short bit off the beginning of the White Oak Trail.
This area of Pinicon Ridge County Park is often closed to auto traffic, always closed to hunting, and provides great hiking in a very hilly area of the park. Parking is available at vicinity of N42° 12.980, W91° 32.586. The markings for White Oak Trail near the parking area are a bit deceptive. The large obvious trail headed up to the top of White Oak Hill is actually not the White Oak Trail. Follow the gravel road toward the group camping sites and find the actual trailhead (unmarked) at vicinity of N42° 13.081’, W91° 32.737’. The first 150 yards or so of White Oak Trail are a little bit nondescript. But as the trail enters the woods it becomes very definite and is a nice hike in this remote part of the park. Be sure to visit the numerous other caches near this trail.
You are looking for a decon container tucked away in a pretty standard location, nothing tricky about this one. Initial contents include:
• Logbook / pencil
• Unregistered geocoin (intended for FTF to take)
• Hot Wheels car
• Carabiner
Thanks to park manager Aaron Batchelder for permission to place this cache.
