Geocache Description:

Hike starts at a popular trailhead, and follows it until Barrett Canyon.  Follow the ridge to the west of Barrett Canyon up (grabbing the older caches of course) until you get to the saddle.  Heavy bushwacking ensues as you must scramble up the mountain to your north-west until reaching the rock tower.

I've admired this large rock outcrop in the past; from my house in Pleasant View it is visable once in a while right after a storm when there are clouds in Barrett Canyon and the tower is proudly displayed.  You can see this from the BSLT as well.

To get there, follow the ridge to the west of Barrett Canyon up the the saddle, then bushwack uphill and west to the coordinates.

We were planning on hiding this cache two days earlier, but a missing man's remains were found on the mountain and police had the trail closed...so we tried again later.

Elevation of the tower is 6,960 feet, which is EXACTLY halfway between the valley floor and Ben Lomond Peak.

Cache is a large plastic ammo container with trade items.  Located near the base of the tower, to the NW in a large crevice.  Area looks like it holds snow very well so it could be difficult to find in winter or spring.

Be sure to check out the tower from below if you park at the Pleasant View Trailhead.  The tower stands out beautifully against the sky, as the peak is hidden behind.
