Geocache Description:

The cache is a one quart plastic jar sitting right out in the open with minimal camouflage. It is hidden in Massasoit State Park. The entrance to the park is 1361 Middleboro Avenue in Taunton. This cache is not a good place for travel bugs.

The approach to this cache depends on the time of year and local conditions, which will vary. The logs pretty much describe the basic location. When you look for this cache, think small. If there is no snow on the ground, check out online topographic maps to see what you are in for. The approach may be muddy at times. There are two other caches in the park to find when you can't get to this one. The terrain rating can and will vary. I averaged terrain ratings and came up with 3. The gate to the main road is locked during the winter and you will have to walk about 3 miles round trip to find the cache. In the summer, the gate is open so you can drive a lot closer to the cache but that will not save you much trouble.

Note added 5/29/04: Please read the log before you look for this cache. Use the Microsoft MapPoint link to find the location. There were a couple of broken bottles in the area which I cleaned up but bare feet might find more glass.

Note added 12/1/04: The plug has been pulled. Easy walking access to this cache.

Note added 3/29/05: Posted notes indicate the plug is back. Prepare to bring a boat or do some wading/swimming.
