Geocache Description:

This cache is located along a very nice trail that is part of an IL Department of Natural Resources archery range.  The idea is that archers can walk along the trail and shoot at various targets along the way.  As you follow the trail you will even find one area where the department has built a tower from which archers can shoot at targets on the ground.  Deer hunters often hunt from a stand mounted up in a tree, and firing from the tower helps them adjust the sights on their bows to compensate for the drop.

You will want to be alert to be sure that you don't wander into an archer's line of fire while hunting for this cache. The targets are easy to see, so this shouldn't be a problem.

When you get to a very peaceful part of the trail that is carpeted with pine needles, you will know that it is about time to leave the trail and head a short distance into the woods to find the cache.  Please stay on the trail until you get to that point. The pine needles also help cut down on the underbrush in the area of the cache, so you shouldn't have any serious bushwhacking to do.  There are some targets nearby, so in the  unlikely event that some archers are using that part of the range you will have to wait for them to finish before you leave the trail and go get the cache.

The cache is a giant 40mm ammo can that we stuffed absolutely full of some nice kids' toys and other random stuff that the grownups may like.

The trail makes a loop that ends up back at the parking area, so once you've found the cache you can continue on along the trail if you prefer to do that instead of backtracking.  The distance is close to the same either way.

Because this cache is on Illinois Department of Natural Resources land, please note the following:
1. Geocache is placed on Department managed property with permission.
2. Do not place the following items in the Geocache: food items; inappropriate, offensive, or hazardous materials.
3. It is the visitors' responsibility to orient themselves with policies and rules pertaining to this Department managed site.
