It has finally arrived. The ribbon cutting celebration on Nov. 14th, 2012 for the completion of the "Fort to Port" highway that connects Ft. Wayne, Ind. to Toledo, Ohio with a new 4 lane highway. General Mad Anthony Wayne would have been proud as he marched along this trail back in the 1790's and only a mere 220 years later we have a modern day highway along the same strategic route. Back in the late 1970's when Mr. PKN was earning his way through college by paving highways during the summer, we had just finished the section of 4 lane between Maumee & Waterville. They said that someday we would have a completed highway between Ft. Wayne and Toledo. I said, never in my lifetime because there aren't enough votes in NW Ohio to make that kind of a difference. Low and behold I was wrong, for now in the 21st century the votes around here in NW Ohio actually count for something. Go figure.
In celebration of this completed highway, we have decided to open a travelbug halfway house on the route between the two cities. Although this location is not quite "Halfway" between the "Fort and Port", it seems like a logical to place for a stopover. So if you are a big rig 18 wheeler cacher in search of a hitchhiking travel bug to keep you company on your long journey or a member of the AAA club who just wants to stop and stretch your legs and pick up a new friend, our rested, relaxed, and rehabilitated travelbugs would like you to stop by and pay us a visit. Feel free to trade travelers and the CO will stop in from time to time to restock this ammo box when necessary.
