Cache is at Meadow Pond Park and is accessed from Hedgehog Lane in West Simsbury. Today the park includes a lacrosse field, a small play set, a pavilion and a small pond.
Meadow Pond has evolved over the years from when it had a sandy beach and a life guard. It was popular swimming and picnicking spot particularly for families with small children. It was usually referred to as Hedgehog Pond. Hedgehogs are a small nocturnal, spiny mammals with barbless spines. One of their defenses is to roll up into a ball with all their spines pointing outward. They are apparently still there today as evidenced by local signs akin to “Hedgehog Crossing”.
DO NOT SEARCH AT/BY THE RED EMERGENCY BOX UNLESS YOU WANT A VISIT FROM SIMSBURY FINEST!
Congratulations to Bobclimber and Cap'n Bill for the FTF. In respect of their experience, and comments, the difficulty has been upped a star.
