Geocache Description:

Another Classic nonnipoppy Hide!

This cache was originally placed by one of the early pioneers of Arkansas geocaching, nonnipoppy.
The cache was transferred by nonnipoppy to Old River Runner on 3/20/12.

This is a magnetic nano cache. This cache was designed to be difficult to find. In addition it will be difficult to avoid geomuggles during business hours.

The cache is located on the grounds of the Johnson County Court House with the permission of the County Judge.

A nearby historical marker commemorates the discovery of the first anthracite coal in Arkansas in 1840 very close to this spot. According to the marker a sample was taken to Little Rock and it was declared to be far superior to coal found in Pennsylvania. Experienced workers were recruited from the east and by 1841 there was $150,000 worth of coal ready to ship by boat. The marker was erected in 1936.
