West Lake Maze Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

LyleVB: Well, this cacche is no more. I went out and picked up all the parts that I could find. And I was pleasantly surprised that there were only two parts I couldn't find, Whale and Hyena. In the course of my trip, I did drop a few of the containers, I'm guessing mostly in out of the way places. So if anyone should spy a camo tape covered film canister, please pick it up.

I was reminded once again how much tougher this cache would be between April and October than in the wintr months when I planned it out. I give special kudos to anyone that attempted it or finished it in that time period.

I want to thank everyone that worked the cache. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I hoped you would. If there is still space in the park this fall, I might put out a new, scaled down version.

Geocache Description:

A virtual maze around the west side of West Lake Park

NOTE 11/19/05 As of now I plan to archive this cache on or about May 1, 2006. It's a lot of work to maintain and there wasn't a lot of (posted) activity last summer.

Welcome to the West Lake Maze!

At the above location you will find a container with a choice of two locations. Pick one.

At whichever one you pick, you will find another container with a choice of two locations. This continues through the first four stops. At the fifth stop, you will find one of 16 containers. One of them will have coordinates for the final cache, a standard ammo box. The other 15 of them will inform you that you have reached a deadend and need to backtrack.

All of the containers for the first five levels are film canister sized containers, covered in camo tape and hidden in or around a tree perhaps with a piece of wire to help hold it in place. I tried to make it so none of these were too difficult to find; this cache will be hard enough as it is. Each spot after the first spot is named for an animal. I didn't want to create any numerical or alphabetical bias; the names are randomly assigned. If you should have a problem with finding one, please identify it by name.

If you are real lucky this could be a fairly simple six step cache. For you unlucky ones, you could make as many as 32 stops. Let me know how many dead ends you ran into, and be honest. No one will laugh.
