Park at the new Beaver Lake Preserve parking lot on the north side
of Beaver Lake. A short hike into the woods is required, but you'll
be on good hiking trails. Rated a 2.0 for difficulty not because it
is hard to find, but because the GPS reception isn't great in the
tall trees so you might have to search around a little. PLEASE BE
SURE TO COVER THE THING BACK UP REALLY GOOD. Also, this area is
frequented by hikers, so please watch out for people.
The primary purpose of this cache is to allow kids to exchange
their old, but good usable balls for different ones. The container
fits two or three large balls and a handful of smaller balls (among
other things). If you want to exchange a ball, please only bring a
usable ball and, if considering exchanging a larger ball (e.g.
basketball/soccer ball/football/etc.), you should consider letting
some air out of it so it fits and bringing an alternative smaller
ball just in case. Also, please be fair to others and try to make a
comparable ball swap (e.g. don’t swap a tennis ball for a leather
football). Finally, please black out any names, addresses, numbers
on the ball you deposit. Most importantly, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A
BALL UNLESS YOU ALSO LEAVE A BALL. (The container started with 8
balls.) It would also be great if you included in your online log
entry the type of ball you left so kids could keep an eye on it and
pop by when something arrives that interests them. Of course, in
addition to having the primary purpose of being a fun ball swap for
the kids, this is also a traditional cache with a logbook, numerous
other trinkets and neat little items, and you can leave and take
trackable items from this container. Because the container is a
little larger, you will find and can leave trinkets that are a
little larger than usual. Please put the smaller “treasure” type
items, travel bugs and coins in the Ziplock that is in the
container. **Original content: Baden Basketball (sz 17); baseball;
football (leather, medium size); tennis ball; water splash ball;
soccer ball (international league standard sz 5); wiffle ball;
softball; Frisbee; small radio (needs batteries); various small
toys and trinkets; and a FTF cash prize.
