Geocache Description:

Located atop the highest bump in Mt Apatite Park. It is a short uphill hike from the Blue blazed Multi-Use Trail.

Mount Apatite Park is a 325-acre wooded park located in the western portion of the City of Auburn. One hundred fifty years ago gem-quality tourmaline was found there; today, amateurs still search the mine tailings for Apatite, Tourmaline and Quartz specimens (specific rules apply).

Three miles of multi-purpose trails were constructed in the summer of 1994, and trails to the quarry area were added in 1997. In the winters, trails are groomed for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. In the spring, summer, and fall, trails are open to mountain bikers, runners, hikers, and other non-motorized trail users.

The cache is a camo waterproof match container. It only contains a log. Bring your own pencil.

Parking is located at the end of Small Road next to the Andy-Valley Sno-Gypsies club house:
N 44 05.8012
W070 17.9262

After parking, continue along the discontinued section of Small Road downhill 150' to where the Blue Blazed Multi-Use trail crosses.
