Geocache Description:

WSGA PS Chapter - Summer Family Picnic

Date/Time:Saturday, 7/19/2003 - All Day
Location:Gene Coulon Park - South Picnic Shelter
Web site:geocachingwa.org

Well, this one is in the books! I hope everyone who made it had a good time enjoyed the friends, food, and fun! I estimate that we had about 60-70 folks throughout the day. A great turn out!

I'd like to thank Steve the grilling machine! Great job and much appreciated by all for the hard (and hot!) work. The burgers, dogs, and brats were all cooked to perfection!

Thanks to Moun10Bike for his contribution of the great Microsoft software. A very popular prize! (I saved some for future events.)

Thanks to George501949 for manning the phone while I was running around.

Thanks to Pepper for making the flag! I hope everyone got a chance to sign it. If not, I'll be bringing it to the next meeting so you'll have the chance to autograph it there.

Thanks to Jeremy and crew for bringing the banner and for the great prizes contributed: The new geocaching.com water bottles are very cool, the "rock" cache container, and keyring/lights. I'd also like to thank them for the hard work they put in keeping geocaching.com going. The recent changes to the site haven't gone unnoticed and in case you don't hear it anywhere else, "Very nice!"

Four multi-caches were placed in the park and a timed event was held. The following were the top four finishers. They all received prizes for their efforts:

Flying Dogs: Completed in 154 minutes, 12 minute bonus, final time 142 minutes.
lostdog19: Completed in 153 minutes, no bonus, final time 153 minutes.
Jester & Seattle Seekers: Completed in 211 minutes, 18 minute bonus, final time 193 minutes.
Grey_Havoc: Completed in 240 minutes, 6 minute bonus, final time 234 minutes.

MarcusArelius had the best score on the quiz with 10 correct answers.

Several additional prizes were given to WSGA members in a random draw.

For those who didn't make it and those who didn't complete all the multi-caches, the entire multi-cache series will be converted to permanent caches and posted on geocaching.com shortly.

Finally, thanks to all who brought something to share. Some super salads, applesauce so fresh it started the day on a tree (my fav!), cookies, chips, pop, smoked trout, fried chicken, watermelon, etc., etc., etc. I'm already looking forward to next year!

This page will remain active for a while so folks have an opportunity to log and read. I'll archive it in a couple of weeks.

We've reserved the South Picnic Shelter at Gene Coulon Park in Renton for our summer picnic & cache event! The shelter is right on the beach and next to the play area. The swimming area is enclosed and monitored by lifeguards. Coulon Park also includes a boat launch & dock, an Ivar's and a Kidd Valley.

More details will be added as the date nears but be sure to mark this one down on your calendars now! This promises to be a very fun event for the whole family. There will be Geocaching-related events and activities. There will be good fun, good food, and good friends!

You need not be a member of the Puget Sound chapter to attend this event. Members from all our chapters, as well as guests and visitors are welcomed!

This Chapter Event is posted by a member of the WSGA. If you are a geocacher in the state of Washington, please join the Washington State Geocaching Association. This is a great way to get the most out of geocaching in our region. Simply go to geocachingwa.org for details!
