Geocache Description:

This is one of several caches I’ve hidden off the Bellota Ranch Road. I was especially surprised that there were no caches in this scenic Chimney Rock area. I discovered the place some years back while orienteering. The Tucson Orienteering Club has developed a nice, detailed map of this area if you are interested: www.tucsonorienteering.org . April, 2011 - replaced container. The original cache was a well-stocked ammo can and most of the items were from the Tucson Jason’s Deli Event, by sondesrtex, held 2/25/07. Swimfin won it and gave it to me to hide – thanks, Swimfin and sondesrtex! Items were donated by the attendees and include signature items from Mule Ears, Team Barstool, and Mindfulness, and one of my TBs. The Redington and Bellota roads can range from quite good to pretty bad depending on recent weather. A car can usually make Redington road. I’d recommend high clearance for the Bellota road, although I did see a car make it recently. High clearance is needed for the road to Chimney Rock, or you can walk the .85 miles from the Bellota road junction. The cache is a short easy walk off the Chimney Rock road. I wanted to put it close to the rocks, but that means that it is more vulnerable to muggles. Please cover it carefully – thanks!
