In August of 2014 tropical storm iselle caused quite a bit of damage to lower Puna. nanawale got hit pretty hard because of all the albizia trees you see laying everywhere. these massive trees are imported from Australia and are the quickest growing trees in the world. the problem is they grow too fast and never become sturdy enough to hold up the weight.
you can see plenty of examples of these massive trees getting blown right over or snapping and splintering apart. the cache is next to the guard rail that took quite a beating. you are looking for a small lock and lock. bring your own pen. don't look too hard...I tried to make it easy in all the ginger and tall grass everywhere.
