Geocache Description:

A regular size multi-point cache in City View Cemetery, Salem, Oregon.

There have been forty-five Governors in Oregon's history; seven are still living, of the remaining thirty-eight, seven ended up in the City View Cemetery in Salem. City View is Salem's only family owned cemetery, founded in __ __ __ __ (first number clue found at entrance). Among the Governors in City View is Oswald West, the Governor responsible for declaring Oregon's beaches 'public highways' and therefore public property. If you have ever enjoyed the beaches on the Oregon coast, you have benefited from Governor West's foresight.

The first coordinates will take you to the main entrance to the mausoleum (hours are 9:00-5:00). Go in the doors and turn right past the spiral staircase. Find the display of Governors (photo below) and use the last year of their term in office to calculate the location of the cache. The cache is not near any of the Governors, but it is within walking distance of the first coordinates, and has a view of Mt. Hood.

The owners of City View are very supportive of Geocaching and even suggested the cache location. This is a daytime only cache, please, since the cemetery is closed at night. Holidays such as Memorial day, 4th of July, Labor day, and Veterans day are especially nice since hundreds of flags line the roads in the cemetery.
This is an urban, wheelchair accessible cache, but is 2.5 stars due to the mental effort required. Remember the only people who need to dig here are the people that work here. The cemetery staff are enjoying watching the cachers.
Please return the log book on top, it gets soggy in the water.
May 2015 update:
The coordinates have been updated to reflect continental drift and the original coal-fired-analog-pre-glonass-Garmin-GPS
