Blue Canoe Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pofe: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

If you have any questions, please email me directly at Pofe@GeocachingAdmin.com . Please be sure to include the caches name and GC# or URL with your email.

NOTE: Do not reply to this email directly. The communication will not be received. To ensure a prompt response, please follow the method of contact described above.

Kind Regards,
Pofe

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Quinnipiac River State Park in North Haven, Connecticut.

The Blue Canoe Cache is so-called because it be reached either via the blue trail or by canoeing up the Quinnipiac River.

Park at N41 23.912 W072 52.073, which is near the intersection of routes 5 and 22.

The cache is in a long, flat tupperware container with a cream-colored lid and is hidden a short distance from the trail in a location that snow should NOT affect. The cache is loaded with all the usual Geo-booty. There is a log book and pencil, so make sure you log your visit. PLEASE make sure that the container is completely sealed because the flooding river has put this cache under water at least once.

If travelling by land: There is an easy trail with mild elevation changes that runs alongside of the river. There is an arrow pointing the way to the trail a short distance up the paved path. OR, for an easier walk without a view of the river, you can take the paved road to the end and pick up the blue trail from there.

If travelling by water: Head up-stream. The cache is about 100' from the river. If the area is flooded like it was today you can probably manage to paddle to within 25' of the hiding spot. You should consider bringing water shoes.

Please note that hunting is permitted in this park so wear bright colored clothing during hunting season. Or, plan your visit for a Sunday when hunting is not allowed.

Also, bring the bug repellent. You'll probably need it.

Visit this cache’s sisters Banton Street (GCH1W0), which is located nearby.

Good luck and have fun!

[:D] Happy caching and stuff! [:D]
