Thanks for visiting one of the Forgotten Villages on the Prairie in Van Buren County, Iowa. We hope you enjoy this cache!
Summit was platted in April 1860 by John & Alexandria Taylor. As the name suggests, it was the highest point in the county on the Keokuk, Ft. Des Moines, Minnesota Railroad. In 1880, the Keosauqua & Southwestern Railroad was built from what was then known as Mt. Zion to Keosauqua.
