Your Overactive Sprinklers At Work Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Malthusian: Apparently no one wants to take this one over, so I will archive it as of today. [:(] I really want to thank everyone who found this cache the past 3 years or so, and hope everybody enjoyed the search, and the park, and nobody stepped in any dog doings. Ironically, as the book is closed on this one, we are once again entering a severe drought in AZ, just like in early 2002- the 2002 drought was a large part of my original inspiration for this cache. Check out my Club 2400 cache if you can do a moderate hike.

Geocache Description:

Easy stroll to a TINY little Cache in a city park.

NOTE! This is NOT a new Cache! This was renamed on 5/31/2002. The old name was "Drops, What Drops". The new name reflects the battle to keep the log sheet dry. Not that any rain has affected it, of course- but the Cache gets a frequent dousing from sprinklers in this park.

NOTE: The listed coordinates are not correct. You need to complete the exercise below to adjust the listed coordinates to the true coordinates for this Cache.

1. Fill in the name of the biggest hit by the rock group Blind Melon (circa 1993):

__ ____

v v
_ _
2. Pull out the SECOND letter of each word as indicated.

3. Look at a telephone keypad. Determine the number that corresponds to each of the 2 letters.

4. Add these 2 numbers together, giving quantity y.

5. Add this quantity y to the whole number portion of the minutes given in the above coordinates, for both N latitude and W longitude:

N 33 21.115' W 111 48.517'
     +y +y
     -- --
N 33 xx.115' W 111 xx.517'
6. Use these coordinates to find the Cache.

This ain't no ammo box!!!

This Cache container is not what you would expect, and it is very small. At one point, this Cache challenged Cachette-1 for the title of smallest Geocache in the state of Arizona. But that was before the Frobro-x nanocaches were placed...

In sharp contrast to Club 2400, the route to this Cache involves a rather short, easy stroll on level terrain. You won't get a good workout going to this one. You can drive by pretty close on a nearby road, but you can't park on that road. I'd suggest you go to one of two small parking lots on a street where both digits are the same. If you want, walk over the multi-colored surface near those lots, and let me know how your feet like that.

Not far from this Cache is a tan-colored vertical device, which measures something that has been sorely lacking in Phoenix so far in 2002. (This ties in with the name of the Cache, and the song title.)

Try not to be observed when retrieving or replacing the cache. If anyone is watching you, or close by, wait a little while. Don't worry about anyone who is at least a hundred feet away, and not watching you. There is a valid reason to be hanging out at the Cache site, at least for a minute or two!

This Cache is way too small to hold things, so don't bring any items to trade. There is a log sheet in it, but THERE IS NO PEN OR PENCIL IN THIS CACHE. Make sure you bring your own writing implement with you.

Happy Hunting!
