Geocache Description:

This is a really cool area. When we found it, with all the various nearby holes that almost appeared blasted out of the mountain, it reminded me of a painting that I once studied as part of an assignment in English class, called: "We Are Making a New World," by Paul Nash (1911). It was a painting of some of the devestation resulting from the artillery shelling from WWI. Upon seeing this area, it immediately reminded me of it.

Granted, these holes appear to be small time quarries where the slate was mined, but they are a cool sight nonetheless. Enjoy the area, and be safe.

"We Are Making a New World"

-Paul Nash, 1911
