Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 7th Annual Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2010, a geocaching game placed by MiGO members in partnership with the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. In order to complete the series, you will need to find the 11 caches hidden in the different Metroparks.

Inside the cover of each Geocache you will find two words. These are to be placed on the appropriate spaces of a crossword puzzle found on the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2010 Brochure found here.  We will be holding a geocachers picnic at Willow Metropark on September 11th.  Watch the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2010 Picnic Page for more details.

The cache is located less than 30 feet from the trail so bushwhacking further than that is not necessary and is discouraged to reduce impact on the environment.


The Huron River is located in Southeast Michigan, rising out of the Huron Swamp in Indian Springs Metropark in northern Oakland County and flowing into Lake Erie on the boundary between Wayne County and Monroe County.
In addition to thirteen parks, game areas, and recreation areas, the river passes through the cities of Dexter, Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Belleville, Flat Rock and Rockwood. The Huron River is a typical Southeast Michigan stream; mud banks, slow stream flow and a low gradient define this river. It runs 136 miles through from the headwaters to its mouth.

The river was named after the Huron band of Native Americans who lived in the area. In Native languages, it was called cos-scut-e-nong-sebee or Giwitatigweiasibi. It was part of a Native American trade route.

The Huron River flows through numerous parks and is a prime canoeing river with a general slow current and only few minor rapids or obstructions except for the short Delhi rapids which is runnable by experienced canoeists and kayakers except during low water.

This cache is located within Willow Metropark, a part of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority park system. A Metropark Vehicle Entry Permit is required: Annual Permit $25. Senior Permit $15. Daily Permit $5.
