Geocache Description:

An Ammo box in the Peasley Gulch drainage corridor. The best starting point for this challenge is at The Enchanted Forest cache (GC182HZ)
The cache is an ammo box that contains a log, pencil and several trade items.

Land Of The Lost: Wilder Terrain Challenge

This cache is located in Peasley Gulch . This is a beautiful part of the park. The trees and stumps are huge – it’s a little like a land of the lost. There are ferns and small waterfalls. It’s quite except for the chirping of the birds which are more numerous here than in most parts of the park. Along the way you will see, frogs, water dogs and pan sized trout. This is a great choice for the summer, as there is lots of shade here and there is almost no PO!
There is no trail here. You will be walking down the main drainage corridor picking your route as you go. The walking is mostly relatively flat, however there are the occasional log jams, fallen trees, pools, overgrowth, etc that will need to be negotiated. It will sometimes choke down to the seemingly impossible but there is always a way through or around and it always opens back up shortly.

Getting There
The best bet for parking is at the main parking lot at Wilder Ranch State Park, especially if you plan to be out for a while. It’s safe and it supports the park system. From there walk to the farm then under the walking ‘underpass’ out into the inland side of Wilder. Alternately, you can park on Highway 1 (for free) near the underpass and drop down onto the path below via the de facto trail.

Safety suggestions
Long pants are highly suggested for this hike. You will not need them in the creekbed of course, but at times you will be tempted to hike around some of the obstacles. This will take you into nettle areas.
If you stay in the creekbed at some point you will probably get your feet wet. Wear shoes accordingly.
Bring plenty of water.
A hiking staff will come in very handy for balance, rock-hopping, path clearing, etc.
During the rainy season check with Park rangers for water flow
PLEASE NOTE THE WAYPOINT FOR EXITING THE CREEK, Exit to the left. From there a trail will take you to Englemans Loop.
