Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates above are not the location of the final cache but are those of the first part of the multicache.

The cache will involve a walk of about 3.5kms to find the final cache and return to the car.
The cache container is a black 50 calibre Ammo box so there is a reasonable amount of room
in it for swops.

I have tried to arrange the cache so you do a circular walk and arrive back near the car. I tried to organise the walk so you could make a circular walk starting near N51 59.943 W00 49.302

This cache is based around Whaddon Hall which is 5kms to the west of Milton Keynes. The hall is the white building which can be seen on the rise to the north of Whaddon throughout the walk. The present Hall was re-built by the Selby Lowndes family in 1820. In recent years it was damaged by fire then refurbished and converted into luxury apartments.

During WWII it became the headquarters of the Special Operations Group of the Special Communications Unit Number 1 in 1939. This was under the command of Brigadier Richard Gambier-Parry. Whaddon Hall had its own receiving and transmitting stations situated in the extensive grounds. The secret wireless messages to SOE operatives were transmitted from this station.

After the war the Special Communications Unit became the Diplomatic Wireless Service, which was also based at Whaddon Hall. Today the Diplomatic Wireless Service is located at Hanslope Park to the north.

This site was associated with Station X - Bletchley Park - the home of the Government Codes and Cipher School and the place where the Enigma codes were cracked during WWII.

If your browser allows you to hear the morse code associated with this page , and if you can read morse you already know where the final cache is located; otherwise:-

Follow the GPS down the North Bucks way to the first location. The North Bucks Way and Swans Way are joined for much of the walk.

  1. Go to N52º 00.122 W00º 48.555 where you will find the first box. In the box are the co-ordinates of the second cache in Oakhill Wood. If you parked where I did this is a walk of 910m. I have placed a stainless steel weight in this container to stop it floating ( see log ), you may now get a wet hand when you recover the container.

  2. Follow the instructions to get to the given co-ordinates for the next box which is about 1.1kms away. From this point to Oakhill wood you are walking along the western Boundary of Milton Keynes Designated Area. One day the land to your right will all be developed.

  3. The final cache is a black painted 50 calibre ammo box located at the co-ordinates given in box 2 and is 400m away

  4. Now you have found the final cache you might want to know the car parking spot is about 900m away

Good luck and happy geocaching Zensunni ( Anne and Ken )
