The journey begins here
at the Hotel Treville. This is the first in a series of nine caches
that will take you on a counter clockwise loop around Ramapo Lake
and then back to the parking lot. None of the caches should be
difficult to locate with the possible exception of d’Artagnans
Sword. We did experience some signal bounce and because of that we
have made the hints fairly specific.
The Hotel Treville is the
Musketeers favorite hangout. After Monsieur de Treville, the head
of the Kings Musketeers, had informed him of Cardinal Richelieu’s
plot to discredit and arrest him and his comrades, d’Artagnan left
the hotel and was soon confronted by one of the Cardinal’s guards.
A sword fight ensued and when it was over, the guard lay mortally
wounded, d’Artagnan mounted his horse and made a hasty escape. His
three fellow musketeers, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis have been
anxiously seeking him ever since as have Cardinal Richelieu and his
guards.
There is only one puzzle
to solve, so in keeping with the theme of this series, after
solving the puzzle once, you will have the information you need to
find the Hotel Treville, Monsieur de Treville, Athos, Porthos,
Aramis, Cardinal Richelieu, and the Cardinal’s Guards caches. The
coordinates to find d’Artagnan will be found in the first six of
those caches. There is a helpful hint for d’Artagnan’s Sword in the
seventh and the coordinates to find d’Artagnan’s Sword will be
found in d’Artagnan…One for All and All for One.
Below is a graphical
depiction of the sword fight. The red swings are d’Artagnan’s and
the green swings those of the guard. Apply your results to the
coded message then apply that to the posted coordinates for each of
the first seven caches.
