Ivyland School Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

psuhockey73: After much deliberation, I have decided to archive this cache. Sad, because it was my first hide. I went to look after I received another question about the hide and the coordinates. Some knucklehead moved it to a further location so, of course the coordinates would be off. The warning sign is a remnant of when this building used to be a school. This cache was placed with the permission of Ivyland Park and Rec.

Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash

.

This cache is being placed in conjunction with the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ivyland Borough in 1873. The celebration will be on June 22, 2013. The boro was founded in 1873 by Edwin Lacey. He envisioned a bucolic village and he named it Ivyland after all the pretty ivy in town, not knowing it was poison ivy! This school was built in 1915 to replace the original 1895 school building located on Chase Ave., now a private residence. It was given to the Centennial School District to use and has now been reacquired by the borough and is undergoing renovations.
