This is a small cache to help people locate the parking and trailhead.
The Sparta Glen area has a lot of great hiking paths and caches. A small road takes you down off Glen Road and down into the ravine. This cache was placed to help you locate the parking. You should be able to park within 20' of its location. Across from the parking area (to the northwest) you will see the trail that leads you up the mountain.
This park was recently rebuild by the Township of Sparta after a severe thunderstorm on August 12, 2000 resulted in approximately a 1,000-year event for total rainfall in a 6-hour period (National Weather Service, 2000). Approximately 15 inches of rain fell destroying this ravine. You will still see evidence of damage as you hike through.
This small cache holds only a logbook and pencil. Watch for muggles or this cache will likely be lifted. This will certainly be your easiest of the day if you are doing the mountain caches.
