Geocache Description:

The 13th Annual Geocaching Cache In Trash Out Time is here!

Please join us at Myakka River SP to help give back to the park for letting us host our events here, for allowing all the geocaches in the park, and just because it is the right thing to do!

We will meet at the listed coordinates at 8:30 AM and await further instructions from the rangers. We plan on working/helping out at the park until 10:30 or 11:00 AM depending on how much we need to do and how well we hold up of course.

You will not be charged an entrance fee as you will be a volunteer for the day, please let them know at the gate that you are there for the Geocaching CITO and they will direct you where to go, expecially if you arrive late.

We will be pulling my and Rosalie of R&B Trailwalkers favorite, the invasive plant Cesar Weed! So try to wear clothes that the burrs don't stick to. And if you have long hair, wear a hat/cap and/or tie it up.

In any case, we will provide water for all helpers, and please don't wear good clothes as you will probably get them dirty and/or torn in the process.

Please wear appropriate clothes for working, bring gloves and bug spray for yourselves.

While I don't think we have hosted all 13 years we have hosted several CITO's over the years and we enjoy these the most as we love giving back to the community we live in and visit. We will have a few items to pass out as random prizes for our volunteers after the CITO is over.

Here is more information about CITO's from the Geocaching.com website:

"Cache In Trash Out® is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

Geocachers around the world celebrate International Cache In Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area. Events might be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Together, we make an enormous positive impact. Did we mention that we also have a bit of fun while we're at it?

The 13th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weekend is scheduled for April 25 and 26, 2015."

This event has been approved by Jill Parnell, Asst. Manager at Myakka River State Park
