Bull Snake: Iowa’s largest snake 50-72 in long, they are extremely excitable when found on a hot day. They hiss loudly, vibrate their tail when on the ground and strike with enthusiasm. Northern Water Snake: 24-42 in long, Most people call all water snakes “moccasins” but they are nonvenomous.
